Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom met with Condoleezza Rice, the U.S. secretary of state, and discussed the timetable for implementing Palestinian-Israeli pledges at last month’s summit. Shalom met Rice in Washington on Tuesday, and agreed with her that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas had made progress in stopping missile attacks from the Gaza Strip into Israel and in destroying arms-smuggling tunnels. But he said he still wanted to see terrorist groups disarmed and dismantled.
