An Israeli Government spokesman emphasized today that Israel is opposed to suspension ‘of peace negotiation now in progress at Lausanne under the direction of the U.N. Palestine Conciliation Commission.
He said that if the talks were suspended, the blame would lie with the Arabs and with the Commission. He added that if the pressure being applied to the Israelis were to be applied to the Arabs, the Commission would be able to produce better results.

This is the first open contact between a British official and the Commission, and is believed to be connected with the U.S. request that Britain furnish a member for the Commission’s sub-committee of exports to investigate the situation of the Arab refugees.)
