The head of the Israeli delegation to the Interparliamentary Union Conference meeting here, Knesset Speaker Reuven Barkatt, met with the Lebanese delegation at a private dinner in a local Paris restaurant arranged by “another delegation.” The heads of the two delegations reportedly had a very “friendly chat” for more than an hour Friday and mutually deplored the fact that they “are not given the opportunity to meet and confer more often.” Though a number of non-Middle Eastern delegates are prepared to vouch for the meeting, the Lebanese Embassy here and the spokesman for the delegation, when questioned by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Claimed yesterday that no such meeting had taken place or is due to take place.
