Israeli officials confirmed reports that Cuban leader Fidel Castro allowed the secret immigration of Cuban Jews to Israel. According to reports in the London Sunday Telegraph and the London Jewish Chronicle, some 400 Cuban Jews arrived in Israel during the past year and are living in a Jewish Agency absorption center in Ashkelon.
