Israeli police believe they have found the remains of a missing 4-year-old girl.
Divers searching the Yarkon River in central Israel on Thursday pulled a red suitcase containing human remains from the water. The remains have been taken for forensic analysis, according to police.
Police believe the remains are those of Rose Pizen, who has been missing since May and whose disappearance has transfixed Israel over the past few weeks.
The girl’s grandfather, Ronny Ron, who is also her mother’s live-in-boyfriend, is in police custody and confessed to killing Rose and dumping her body in a suitcase in the river. Earlier this week he recanted his confession. Rose’s French-immigrant mother, Marie Renault, also is in custody.
