Israeli President Ezer Weizman said during Independence Day events that he intends to step down by the end of the year, but did not give a specific date. Weizman, 76, who collapsed from dehydration during a reception at his residence, has cited his advancing age as a reason for not serving his entire second term, which ends in 2003.
