The entire Israeli press has within the past few days welcomed the establishment of the America-Israel Society as a positive move to help spread friendship between the two countries and to render useless recent attempts to divide the two nations.
The independent, English-language Jerusalem Post saw in the list of distinguished supporters of the society a “most encouraging sign of wide support which this country enjoys from leaders of every important section of American life.” The Histadrut’s Davar expressed the opinion that the society will “bring about a cultural and political rapprochement,” while the General Zionist Haboker felt that the organization would bring “before the American public the truth about Israel.” The Mizrachi Hatzofe said that the new group was built on a “basis of cultural relations between Israel and America, both (states) based on the Bible.”
