Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was due to begin a 10-day vacation Thursday. Sharon was expected to spend the time on his Negev ranch, returning to work on Sept. 1. Following the Jewish New Year, Sharon is slated to travel to the United States, where he will visit the Jewish communities in Miami and Los Angeles.
