Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised Jewish settlers he would allow new settlements to be built in the West Bank in exchange for support from Jewish settlers in the May 17 elections, according to Israel Army Radio. Netanyahu, meanwhile, Thursday rejected recent U.S. State Department criticism of Israeli settlement policy on the West Bank.
