Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak held a three-way summit at the Sinai resort of Sharm el-Sheik. Appearing after the summit with Barak and Arafat at his side, Mubarak said he hoped for progress in both the Israeli- Palestinian and the Israeli-Syrian negotiating tracks so that all parties could reach “the end of the problem of the Middle East.”
