Israeli Prime Minister-elect Ariel Sharon called on the Palestinians to “cast off the path of violence and return to the path of dialogue.” In his victory speech, Sharon also said he would “strive to strengthen and consolidate a united Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the Jewish people.”
