Israeli Prime Minister-elect Ehud Barak decided to reject an invitation to speak to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s annual policy conference, which begins this weekend in Washington, according to sources close to Barak. Barak instead plans to send the pro-Israel lobby a letter. Barak’s decision came because he is not ready to give a policy speech and is overwhelmed trying to form a coalition, the sources said. An AIPAC official said the group is still talking directly to the newly elected premier and expressed the hope that Barak would speak to the group Sunday via satellite.
