Israeli Public Security Minister Shlomo Ben-Ami asked the police commissioner to study the activities of the Islamic Movement, a political group that has a large following among Israeli Arabs. Ben-Ami issued the call after police found that the three men who carried out Sunday’s car bombings in Haifa and Tiberias were linked to the group. Security officials said this week they were caught by surprise when they found a growing network of ties between Israeli-Arab members of the Islamic Movement and the Hamas fundamentalist group.
