An Israeli Army reservist, Sgt. Meir Amnon, 34, was killed and two other Israeli soldiers were injured yesterday when an army vehicle hit a land mine in the Sinai town of El-Arish on the Mediterranean coast. Searches for the saboteurs were initiated and a curfew was imposed on the town. Seven Israeli soldiers were injured yesterday during exchanges of fire along the Suez Canal, and Israeli planes continued to strafe Egyptian canal positions yesterday and today. Early this morning, an Israeli Army unit demolished three empty houses in the Lebanese border town of Kelaah that were said to have served as terrorist quarters. A Lebanese Army unit in the town did not intervene, and all Israeli soldiers returned safely. The demolition explosions were heard in Metullah, the northernmost Israeli settlement. Israeli planes today struck for 75 minutes at the Jordanian Army and saboteur positions that had fired last night on Israeli settlements and Army posts in the Beisan Valley, especially those of Yardena and Beth Yosef. Yardena residents took to shelters, but a circumcision ceremony in Beth Yosef continued to conclusion.
