Israeli school teachers were awarded a 3.4 percent salary increase today to bring to a close a dispute which had led to several walkouts last year.

Teachers in both elementary and high schools now have received pay increases similar to those approved earlier in the year for engineers and other professionals, who also struck in their fight for higher salaries.
