Israeli soldiers shot and critically injured a mentally challenged Palestinian man.
Soldiers shot Awad Srur, 40, during the arrest Monday of his brother in the West Bank village of Naalin. Srur tried to grab a soldier’s gun, and the soldier shot him with a rubber bullet in self defense, army officials told Ynet.
Srur lost an eye in the shot to his head, Ramallah Hospital officials told Ynet.
Naalin has been the site of several violent demonstrations against the security fence being built in the area. A Palestinian boy was shot and killed last month during a demonstration.
