Israeli students facing the draft do not have to worry about being sent to Lebanon, Prime Minister Ehud Barak said. Addressing a group of students Wednesday, he reiterated a promise to withdraw Israeli troops by the middle of next year. “We mean every word we say,” Barak replied to a student’s question at a Jerusalem high school. “By the time you are enlisted in the army, the army will be deployed on the international border, not within Lebanon.”
