Israeli television viewers are expected to have six new cable television stations within a year as the result of a decision reached in the Knesset. Soon to be available will be two all-news channels, one Arabic-language station, one broadcasting Middle Eastern music, one religious station and one for new immigrants. Communications Minister Limor Livnat said the move reflected the needs of a “pluralistic and democratic society.”
