Israel is enjoying a tourist boom. A 27 percent increase in the number of visitors from abroad was recorded during the months of June, July and August compared to the same period last year, according to official statistics released today.
The tourist figures for the three summer months of 1977 are 294,900 compared with 232,900 during the summer of 1976. As of Aug. 31, the total number of tourists for the year stood at 674,000, a 25 percent increase over last year. More than 50 percent of the increase was represented by tourists from Germany and Austria. The lowest increase was from the U.S. for which figures were not released.
