Israeli tourists in a Bolivian resort town were rescued after gun battles broke out between the army and local farmers. The Israelis were trapped for more than a week after the gunfights erupted, killing six. One of the tourists, Guy Rosenthal, 22, of Haifa, told the Jerusalem Post that he was scared for his life. While things “went on as normal” inside the village, he said, all roads to the outside world were blocked. Protests broke out 10 days ago following a government decision to increase taxes and supply the United States with gas via Chile, media reports said.
