A Palestinian couple holding hands as they approached the Erez Crossing on the Gaza Strip-Israel opened fire on soldiers about 50 yards from them, prompting return fire, according to Yediot Achronot.
The shooting either set off a bomb being carried by one of the Palestinians, a woman, or she detonated herself. Her companion, a man who was carrying a rifle, also was killed.
Islamic Jihad claimed the two as its members.
