Two serious incidents occurred today along Israel’s borders with Jordan, a military spokesman revealed here. A protest has been lodged with the Mixed Armistice Commission.
He disclosed that early this morning an Israeli patrol in the central region encountered a strong force of Jordan troops on Israel territory. After an exchange of fire, during which the Arabs suffered a number of casualties, the Arabs withdrew.
Later, an Israeli patrol south of Hebron was set upon by a force consisting of Bedouins and Jordan troops. After a two-hour battle, the Arabs again withdrew, taking their casualties with them. One Israel soldier was wounded.
