Egyptian President Anwar Sadat may soon be able to get the radio he claims Zionism denied him in 1952. Sadat told the National Press Club in Washington Monday that when he sought to buy a radio at that time an Egyptian Jew refused to sell him one on orders from Zionism in Israel.
After hearing of this, Eliahu Tal, head of an Israeli advertising agency, announced yesterday that he and several dozen others have formed an “Israeli-Egyptian Friendship League.” The group’s first step was to place an ad in today’s Jerusalem Post to raise money for a radio for Sadat. Tal said the radio “will be the best Israeli-made set that money can buy, since, after all, Sadat is a President.” He said the radio will be sent to Egypt and it is hoped that Sadat will use it in his home. “Maybe he’ll even be able to hear Israel Radio,” Tal added.
