Israel’s 2005 budget was moved on for a make-or-break ratification vote. The Knesset Finance Committee approved the $61 billion package early Wednesday by 10-9 after a marathon debate. The budget awaits ratification on March 29, but Prime Minister Ariel Sharon may not have a majority due to so-called rebels in his Likud Party who have threatened to vote against or abstain.
