Israel is “ready for peace at any time, and is willing to pay the price for it,” Israel Ambassador Avraham Harman declared here yesterday at Israel anniversary services held at Congregation B’nai Jeshurun. “However, Mr. Harman asserted, “one price we will never pay is the price of national suicide. ” The price for peace, he added, “is negotiation, no matter how difficult. “
Pending peace with the Arab states, the Ambassador declared, self-defense must be “a cardinal policy of Israel and will continue to be until we have a peace that recognizes the right of peoples to live, not one that denies them the right of existence. “
