The Women’s International Zionist Organization (WIZO) was hailed by the commander of the Israeli Air Force Women’s Corps today as a “partner in training.” Col. Sarah Halevy said that about 35,000 Israeli girls in the corps had gone through various WIZO institutions prior to joining the Air Force and as a result were very well equipped for military service. Col. Halevy spoke at the opening meeting of a membership drive launched by the Federation of Women Zionists of Great Britain and Ireland. She said that female members of Israel’s armed forces do not go into battle but fulfill many vital tasks at various levels. She said a large number of new immigrants have joined her corps and are doing well.
