Israel’s ambassador to Hungary pressed for an investigation into his performance in order to clear his name. According to a report filed by Amikam Levi, an Israeli Foreign Ministry logistics officer, David Admon spends much of his time cultivating ties with local business people in order to get involved in private real-estate ventures and other local business enterprises. The report also says Admon has a limited knowledge of Hungarian and English, and that the embassy spent up to $100,000 on an Independence Day party. In a news conference Tuesday, Admon called the charges “unfounded” and “unsubstantiated.” He said his job entails cultivating ties with Hungarian businessmen, but denied that he or his family is benefitting financially from his position. He also said Hungarian is his mother tongue.
