Israel’s Central Immigration Office is Transferred from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem

The central immigration office of the Ministry of Interior opened its new headquarters here today. The other departments in the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Police offices will be transferred here from Tel Aviv later in the week, it was announced. The transfer is part of the general removal of government offices from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Travelers whose plane or ship touches at an Israel airfield or port may tour the surrounding area for a period of 24 hours without a regular transit visa, it was announced here today. The announcement said that visitors to Israel may now bring a maximum of 25 Israel pounds into the country, instead of five as heretofore. The currency must be in one-pound notes.
