Israel’s conflict with the Palestinians fuels anti-U.S. resentment in the Middle East, Gen. Tommy Franks said. Franks, who retired from the military last summer after leading the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq as the head of the U.S. Central Command, said the Israel-Palestinian issue is “a major, major, major issue. And I believe it demands our focus. It’s work that we’re going to have to do.”
