Israel’s deputy defense minister said the Gaza withdrawal plan could be blocked by troops who refuse evacuation orders. Ze’ev Boim spoke Monday as reports surfaced that as many as 5,000 right-leaning army conscripts and reservists had signed petitions declaring that they would not remove settlements from the Gaza Strip and northern West Bank next year under Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s plan to “disengage” from the Palestinians.
