Dr. Uri Naor, Israel’s ambassador to Chile, has reaffirmed the basic position on peace with the Arab states, in response to the Yugoslavian Middle East peace proposal submitted to Chilean President Frei by Yugoslav President Tito’s special ambassador.
In a note to the Chilean Government, Dr. Naor said that Yugoslavia had not consulted with Israel before making its proposal. Nevertheless, he declared, Israel was willing to work together “in peace” with the Arabs in determining its borders. Only in direct negotiations with the Arab states, he said, could the border questions be resolved.
