Israel’s fervently Orthodox Shas Party said it plans to resign from Prime Minister Ehud Barak’s government. If the party carries out its threat, it would mean that Barak would have to bring new parties into his coalition or have to govern with a minority in the Knesset. Barak and his aides are reportedly looking into whether they can set up a leftist secular government.
