Israel is now maintaining trade contacts with 78 countries on all continents, Pinhas Sapir, Minister of Commerce and Industry, declared here today. He said Israel’s foreign trade, which totaled $400,000,000 in 1955, reached a total of $800,000,000 this year.
Mr. Sapir noted that Israel had not sought membership in the European Common Market, preferring an arrangement through which the activities of the ECM would not be disadvantageous or discriminatory to Israeli trade.
