Israel’s former military chief reportedly escaped a bid to prosecute him on war crimes in New Zealand. Israeli media reported Thursday that Moshe Ya’alon cut short a trip to New Zealand this week after a local court issued a warrant for his arrest at the behest of pro-Palestinian groups that wanted him tried for a 2002 air strike against a senior terrorist in Gaza that killed 14 civilians.
