Israel’s government approved an emergency economic plan that slashes $2.3 billion from the budget. The vote was 21-2. Ministers from the National Religious Party opposed the program because it decreased family benefits and tax breaks to rural areas. The proposal now heads to the Knesset, where some legislators have already called for changes.
