Israel’s new consul general in New York denied having criticized Ronald Lauder, chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, for his plans to participate in a mass rally for Jerusalem. Alon Pinkas reportedly said, “The first thing the consul general of Israel must refrain from is intervening in the internal affairs of the Jewish community.”
