Israel’s Parliament rejected a bill that would have allowed civil unions. The bill, proposed by lawmaker Yuri Shtern of Yisrael Beiteinu, was defeated Wednesday in a 63-13 vote. The proposal would have allowed Israelis to circumvent religious authorities by entering a “couple covenant.”
