Israel’s prime minister and president expressed their condolences after an airplane crash in New York City. Ariel Sharon and Moshe Katsav contacted the U.S. ambassador to Israel, Daniel Kurtzer, to convey their condolences to the American people and the people of New York. American Airlines flight 587, an Airbus A-300, was taking off from JFK International Airport bound for the Dominican Republic when it crashed at about 9:15 Monday morning in the borough of Queens. U.S. officials are currently treating the crash as an accident.
