Israel’s Security Cabinet decided Wednesday to press ahead with the military operation in the West Bank, despite growing U.S. pressure to withdraw. In another development, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said he would not try to prevent a planned meeting Saturday between U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell and Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat.
