Israel’s Supreme Court rejected an appeal to withhold the Israel Prize from author Amos Oz. A settler leader, Zvi Hendel, brought the appeal, saying Oz should not get the prize unless he retracted statements he made in a 1989 article that were critical of Jewish settlers. Oz is slated to receive the prize on April 30 as part of the country’s 50th birthday celebrations.
