Israel’s progress has been phenomenal in the light of the handicaps and obstacles that the country faces, Rabbi Izchak Meyer Lewin, Israeli Welfare Minister, said at a press conference here today.
The Israeli Minister arrived here yesterday for a four-week tour of major American Jewish communities. Upon his landing, he was officially welcomed to the city by a representative of the Mayor. More than 50 representatives of rabbinical and other Jewish groups were also at the airfield to greet him. He is visiting the United States at the invitation of the American Agudath Israel Organization.
