The emigration of Israel-bound Jews from ‘Turkey come to a virtual halt as result of the latest government regulation which strikes at those emigrants who, forbidden to go directly to Israel, obtain visas for western European country from which they then embark for the Jewish state.
Turkish Jews are now forbidden to leave the country unless they first obtain entrance visa from the country to which they say they wish to go. However, the consulates of the western European countries in this city refuse in almost every case ? grant such a visa, thus preventing the Jews from leaving. This new regulation is believed to have been issued at the instigation of Britain.
