The crisis in the Union of Italian Jewish Communities was resolved here today when the Union’s council elected Dr. Renzo Bonfiglioli to the presidency, succeeding Dr. Raffaelo Cantoni, who had declined to withdraw his resignation. Dr. Bonfiglioli is president of the Ferrara Jewish community. Prof. Dante Lames, Italy’s foremost Jewish scholar, was elected vice president. The council announced that the scheduled extraordinary congress of the Union will not be held.
