The Union of Jewish Communities of Italy today accepted an invitation from Senator Umberto Terracini, president of the Italian Association of Political Victims of the Fascist Regime, to participate in the drafting of an official protest against the rearming of Germany.
A measure aimed at expediting settlement of property questions resulting from the deportation of children from Italy during the Nazi occupation of the country has been approved by the Chamber of Deputies and the Cabinet, it was learned today.
Under the old legislation, children deported by the Nazis could not be presumed to be dead until nine years after the date on which they would have come of age. The new measure provides for the presumption of death three years after the date of deportation.
