Italian Jewry will celebrate what is believed to be the country’s first Reform Bar and Bat Mitzvah this weekend in Milan. Two members of Milan’s small Reform congregation, Lev Chadash, will be called to the Torah on Saturday. A visiting rabbi, Kathleen Middleton, will lead the service. Lev Chadash operates outside of Italy’s established Jewish community, which is Orthodox.
