Italy said it would take part in a U.N. peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon only if Israel does not violate the cease-fire. Foreign Minister Massimo D’Alema told La Repubblica newspaper that Italy, which is expected to lead the U.N. force, would not send troops if fighting continues.
