The Italian diplomatic representation in Bonn was given specific instructions to raise with the West German Government the question of Italian citizens who were victims of Nazi deportations and who have not received compensation, an official of the Italian Government declared today.
Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Russo made the statement in reply to questions raised by Socialist Senators in the Italian Parliament. Many of the uncompensated victims are Jews.
He also said that the Italian Government had never failed to raise the issue whenever bilateral financial problems were discussed with the West German officials. Italian diplomats have always insisted that an equitable solution be found for the problem, he stated.
