Itzhak Triwaks, noted Israeli philologist, arrived here this week-end to arrange for the sale of the 16-volume Encyclopedia Hebraica now being published in Israel under the editorship of Prof. Israel Klausner. Mr. Triwaks expects to secure 3,000 subscribers in the United States.
About 650 Jewish scientists from all parts of the would have contributed to the encyclopedia, Mr. Triwaks declared here today. In Israel more than 30,000 people have already subscribed to the encyclopedia, he reported, adding that the administration faces the problem of securing newsprint which must be imported into Israel for dollars. The sale of the encyclopedia in the United States would make it possible to secure the American currency needed to purchase the paper.
