Jacob M. Kaplan, business leader and philanthropist, and Gov. Nelson A. Rockefeller were honored tonight at a dinner here opening the fall campaign of the Joint Defense Appeal. The JDA is seeking $6, 100, 000 for the programs of the American Jewish Committee and the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation League during the current year.
Mr. Kaplan was lauded for “his outstanding services to the community and his contribution to the advancement of human dignity. ” Gov. Rockefeller received the sixth annual Human Rights Award presented annually by the two Joint Defense Appeal agencies to the person who has done the most to advance the principles of Americanism and human rights.
