Department of Parasitology at the University, who proceeded to Paris last month in order to lecture on “The Method of Transmission of Blood Protozoa, and Particularly Leishmanias” to the Societe de Pathologie Exotique (Society of Tropical Medicine) in France, which celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary this month.
Dr. Adler had been carrying out research in the Mediterranean area on behalf of the Royal Society of London.
Recognition of the work of Dr. B. Amira, of the University’s Institute of Mathematics, has been given by his election to membership of the London Mathematical Society and of the Societe Mathematique de France.
It is gratifying to be able to report also that despite the continuance of economic depressions abroad, the University still receives gifts of real value to its work.
Mrs. Helena Davis, of West Hampstead, London, has created a settlement of £1,000 dedicated in perpetuity for the promotion and encouragement of education at the Hebrew University. The trustees appointed in the deed are A. Goldwater, A.R.S.M., and S. Horowitz, of Jerusalem. Mrs. Alice Lewisohn Crawley, of the United States, has provided the Hebrew University with $1,000 as a scholarship fund for Dr. Stekelis to conduct prehistoric research in Palestine. Under the auspices of the Section of Geology of the University, Dr. Stekelis will investigate outstanding Megalithic monuments and remains in this country and Trans-Jordan. A valuable donation of mineralogical instruments for the Section of Geology has been made by Mrs. K. Pomerantz, of Jerusalem, as a present in memory of her late husband. The instruments will be used by both teachers and students.
